June 20, 2025, Hangzhou—At the “First Forum on Scientific and Technological Innovation and Development of New-Quality Productive Forces in Lighting,” Zhang Le, CTO of Beijing MiJi Technology Electronics, delivered a presentation titled“AI Reshaping the Lighting Industry: A Two-Dimensional Evolution from Functional Innovation to R&D Efficiency,” shared how AI technology is reshaping the systemic logic of the lighting industry across two dimensions—functional experience and R&D models—sparking widespread interest and in-depth discussions among attendees regarding the “new paradigm of smart lighting.”
Zhang Le pointed out that with the maturation of generative AI, large-scale model algorithms, and embedded sensing chips, AI is evolving from an auxiliary tool into a new form of infrastructure for the lighting industry. This technological transformation is driving lighting systems to shift from “passive illumination” to “active service” and is gradually rewriting the R&D paradigm for traditional electronic products.
On the functional level, MiJi Technology showcased several innovative smart lighting solutions focused on real-world user scenarios. Addressing different lighting needs for reading, relaxation, and work, the AI circadian lighting system uses algorithms based on the human circadian rhythm to dynamically adjust the light spectrum and brightness, synchronizing healthy lighting with physiological rhythms.The AI Soft Dimming Solution, through multidimensional sensing and seamless control, enables flicker-free, gradual light adjustment, significantly enhancing lighting comfort and visual safety.
For educational settings, MiJi Technology’s AI Study Companion solution integrates multiple functions—including posture monitoring, voice interaction, and eye-protective light distribution—to create a human-centered lighting solution tailored for adolescents.In terms of interaction modes, the module design—which integrates a rotary knob, touch controls, and voice commands—enables users to achieve seamless control across multiple scenarios, embodying the “human-centered” evolutionary logic of AI lighting systems.
On the R&D front, MiJi Technology has restructured the electronic design process for lighting products by introducing AI technology, significantly improving the efficiency and precision of product development.
Zhang Le noted that traditional hardware development relies on manual experience and repetitive trial-and-error, making it difficult to meet the industry’s demands for rapid iteration and high reliability.With the help of AI algorithms, processes such as schematic design, PCB design, and routing optimization are gradually becoming automated and intelligent. In this process, AI not only helps engineers identify high-risk circuit layouts but also performs complex optimizations such as thermal management design and signal integrity analysis, significantly reducing R&D cycles and the probability of errors.
One of the most notable points of this presentation was the systematic proposal of the “two-dimensional evolution” logic for the lighting industry: on the one hand, AI-driven functional innovation enables lighting systems to evolve from mere tools into personalized partners for healthy lighting environments;on the other hand, by leveraging AI to restructure the R&D process, design and development are shifting from being experience-driven to data-driven and automated, resulting in a synergistic leap in both efficiency and user experience. This “double helix” model provides a clear path for lighting companies to identify new competitive advantages in the era of new-quality productive forces.
Zhang Le concluded by emphasizing that AI-empowered transformation of the lighting industry is no longer a marginal technological exploration but a reshaping of the core of the value chain.In the future, MiJi Technology will continue to focus on the systematic integration of “AI + Lighting,” driving lighting products toward a smarter, healthier, greener, and more sustainable direction.
